Maine artist Allen Bunker paints the feeling he gets from a scene. People like to 'get away' or 'get back to
nature.' These are feelings or emotions,
not just places. His goal as an artist
is to bring the viewer back to that feeling or emotion, but not always a pretty
little emotion with a picket fence around it.
Often, the feeling is intense and bold, or cold and foreboding. These emotions are all a part of life
captured by Bunker’s work.
Allen Bunker calls his paintings “Landscape Allusions”. They are not like your typical landscapes but
they allude to the landscape. The object
itself is not the real concern, but the feeling the viewer gets is what gives
it life. And Life is what it's all about.
